New Autobiography

Good Morning Team – “Life Without Limits” by Chrissie Wellington will be available May 15th.

Chrissie is 4 time World Ironman Champion. 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run all in less than 9 hours. in 2011 she crashed her bike during training and sustained injuries that should have put her out of the race. She won anyway. Here’s how she did it and does it and why;

1. Train your Brain then your body – “We can all train our brains to be as strong as our bodies, It sounds simple, but it’s so easy to forget. If we let our head drop, our heart drops with it. Keep your head up, and your body is capable of amazing feats.
2. Have a mantra and/or a special song to repeat I write my mantra on my water bottle and on my race wristband. Seeing it gives me a boost.
3. Keep a bank of positive mental images These images can be of family and friends, of previous races, of beautiful scenery, or a big greasy burger.
4. Practice visualization beforehand In training, when traveling, while sleeping or at work, this is the simple act of closing your eyes. Relax your mind and go through each stage of the race one step at a time — mentally imagining yourself performing at your peak and also successfully overcoming potential problems. ** She notes: Before Michael Phelps has even entered the water, he has already completed the race in his mind. And won.
5. Mentally recall inspirational people I recall people who have all fought against adversity of any kind in order for me to complete the Ironman.
6. Consider racing for a cause that is bigger than yourself For me, it is to establish a platform on which to spread important messages and be a patron for charitable causes. These force me to put the race in perspective and rise to greater heights. Champions come and go, but to me the real judge of my personal success will be whether I actually do something positive with the opportunities I have been given.

Your business is about so much more than you and I. What message are you using your business opportunity to send to your kids, family, community?

S C A M P E R

From fellow author Michael Michalko’s “Creative Thinkering” A creative thinking technique that generates new ideas super fast = S.C.A.M.P.E.R.

Imagine you are a metal paper clip manufacturer and want to improve the metal clip. What ideas can you create by asking the following SCAMPER questions:

Can you Substitute something?
Can you Combine it with something else?
Can you Adapt something to your subject?
Can you Magnify, Modify or add to it?
Can you Put it to some other use?
Can you Eliminate something from it?
Can you Rearrange it?

What happens when you reverse it?

An example is to substitute plastic for metal, add color and produce plastic clips in various colors so that clipped papers could be color-coded, thereby creating another use for the simple paper clip.

Wonder how this applies to improving one’s business skils such as inviting, demonstrating, presenting and other skills?

Just existing vs Goin for it

Good Morning Team –

The difference between great people and everyone else is that great people create their lives actively, while everyone else is created by their lives, passively waiting to see where life takes them next. The difference between the two is the difference between living fully and just existing.”

–Michael E. Gerber, author “The E Myth”

All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible.”

–Orison Swett Marden

You don’t know what you don’t know and you won’t know until you DO

Linspiration

Good Morning Team – He had a dream of playing in the NBA. He has gone from sleeping on his brother’s couch in New York City to living in Trump Tower in just two weeks. He has gone from being an total unknown to increasing the sales and traffic to the Knicks online store by 3000%.

Jeremy Lin didn’t receive a single scholarship offer to play basketball in college. Instead he walked on to Harvard’s basketball team and played all four years.

Lin wasn’t drafted into the NBA. He earned a spot on the Golden State Warriors squad for the 2011 season, but he didn’t play and they cut him on the first day of training camp this season. The Houston Rockets picked him up and let him play a few minutes in two preseason games and then cut him again. The Knicks then picked him up to start the season but quickly sent him down to the D-League and he was only recalled because two other Knicks’ point guards were hurt.

He was given a chance to play coming off the bench against the New Jersey Nets on Feb. 4th and scored 25 points. In the next four games he set an NBA record by scoring 109 points in his first four starts in the the league.

He has since graced the cover of Sports Illustrated, hit a game winning 3 pointer against the Raptors and dropped 38 on Kobe and the Lakers. Linsanity is sweeping the nation in part because he can play basketball – but mostly because he is teaching us all to Believe…..

All your Dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them

Grow up

Good Morning Team –

When we grow up we become responsible for our own lives. Yet many of us still continue to let other people or circumstances make decisions for us, either consciously or unconsciously“.

–From tape “Winning Choices”

If someone came into your house and painted awful, belittling, disempowering, or gross pictures on your walls – would you leave them up on the walls?

Same goes for your self talk, the words of others and CNN (Constantly Negative News)….paint over them immediately.

The only thing you and I have complete control of is our thoughts. Choose wisely.
