Something different to each of us, just like Freedom.<\/p>\n
Yesterday I was 2 hours into a 5 hour drive to give a presentation when my darling wife got the call to “pack up and be ready to leave” because the fires were coming closer. By the time I got back to the house (it didn’t take 2 hours to get back) she had done most of what needed to be done. She’s an awesome woman. <\/p>\n
At this moment we remain safe in our home, we left for a few hours because of heavy smoke, and during that time out I witnessed what created America, what saved America after 1929, the Dustbowl – and what will continue to make America GREAT – People Serving others with creativity and love.<\/p>\n
I\/we witnessed families and neighborhoods determined to serve others with whatever resources they have. Shared trailers and trucks moved enormous amounts of people, pets, livestock and possessions. Fences were opened or cut and pastures shared so animals can flee. Shelters were opened, staffed and stocked in churches, schools, fairgrounds and buildings made available for that purpose. Law officers from other communities came to assist with traffic and more. Firefighters from “everywhere” moving equipment, doing their best and even the Army from Fort Hood. People Serving Others. Many Miracles. There is immense Power in Organized Effort.<\/p>\n
Generally, with flooding you can make sandbags or sit on your roof; with tornadoes you can hide in a basement. With fire devouring 300 feet of forest in less than a minute you just grab what you can and go. It’s different, it’s a bit surreal.<\/p>\n
As independent business owners we find ourSelves in a similar position. As individuals – every day we each make a decision or a series of decisions to actively make a difference in our life, our families and our communities, – by collectively participating in something greater than each or all of us. <\/p>\n
Thus, Every Day Represents you and I – individually and collectively starting a new life with new opportunities to connect with and serve others.<\/p>\n
