In Chicago there was a teacher named Marva Collins<\/a>\u00a0who left the public school system to start her own school.\u00a0 I have heard that there still is a 3 year wait to get one’s child intoo her school.<\/p>\n

Here’s a great quote from Marva;<\/p>\n

” I have discovered few learning disabled students in my 30 years of teaching,\u00a0I have, however, discovered many many victims of teaching inabilities.<\/em> ”<\/p>\n

Marva focused on identifying and magnifying each student’s unique gifts.\u00a0 On the day I visited her classroom she had this written on the board above the space where the day to day items were written;<\/p>\n

” Trust yourSelf.\u00a0 Think for yourSelf.\u00a0 Act for yourSelf.\u00a0 Speak for yourSelf. BE<\/strong> yourSelf.<\/em> ”<\/p>\n

So when coaching clients we follow her words, especially BE yourSelf! and focus on magnifying the unique gifts of whomever you’re coaching.<\/p>\n

**Marva is retired from teaching in a classroom and now resides in South Carolina. She continues to coach teachers and consult with private schools.\u00a0 She is one of life’s “Exceptional People”.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
