2 quotes from a mentor

Jim Rohn,

The greatest form of maturity is at harvest time. This is when we must learn how to reap without complaint if the amounts are small and how to reap without apology if the amounts are big.

As a business owner – You’re paid based upon your productivity vs your time or what a particular job is worth.

There are some things you don’t have to know how it works—only that it works.  While some people are studying the roots, others are picking the fruit. It just depends on which end of this you want to get in on.

You can spend hours, weeks dumping “facts” into your prospects or you can just show em that what you have is what they want.

Wear a Smile and Wear it out!

Be All you can BE – part 2

In today’s world people have been conditioned to respond to sound bytes; text bytes, twitter bytes…so what you want to do is to create your own personal sound byte….in 30 seconds or less be able to share your story:

1.    What were you doing before you started your business and/or what moved you to develop another stream of income.
2.    What attracted you to the industry or company and what do you like best about it.
3.    What’s your favorite product and what has it done for you.  (NOT what you think it can do for them)
4.    Then – Immediately ask a question that relates to the product
30 seconds is all you get with any prospect.  So remember:  The FIRST thing  people buy from your company is YOU!!  The SECOND thing they buy is your results with your products.

THEN and only THEN do they even begin to buy the facts.

Now again remember everyone is in sales.  You’ve been a superb salesperson since the day you were born and you sold your parents on keeping you alive.  If you have job – you’ve sold your boss on hiring you and keeping you.  If you’re in a relationship – you’re in sales.   If you have kids, or ever deal with kids – you’re in sales everyday, all day because everything from breakfast time to bed time is a negotiation.

BE yourSelf , Wear a Smile and Wear it Out !!

BE all you can BE

from Oscar Wilde;

Be yourSelf, because everyone else is already taken

One of the key components of your success in any business is to BE  yourSelf !!

The FIRST thing people buy from your company is YOU!!

The second thing they buy is your results with your products.

THEN and only THEN do they even begin to buy the science, the company, the partners, the trends, the stock price, what was said about us on the Today show or in Forbes, People magazines etc. etc etc.

Now remember everyone is in sales.  You’ve been a superb salesperson since the day you were born and you sold your parents on keeping you
alive.  If you have job – you’ve sold your boss on hiring you and keeping you.  If you’re in a relationship – you’re in sales.   If you have kids, or ever deal with kids – you’re in sales everyday, all day because everything from breakfast time to bed time is a negotiation.

So BE yourSelf , Wear a Smile and Wear it Out !!

The Power of Myth

In “The Power of Myth” Joseph Campbell writes;

When you follow your Bliss, you put yourSelf on the track that has been there all the while…you begin to meet people who are in your field of Bliss, and they open doors for you.

And from Goethe;

That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.  All sorts of things occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred.

Coincidence?  Chance? Dumb Luck?  Maybe so.  I just know from 20+ years of prospecting that each connection we make leads to another and another and another. So really there never is such a thing as a cold call if we simply follow the connections.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

On a tombstone near you

On our tombstone there will be two dates; the day we were born and the day we died.

What symbolizes our life is the dash in between.

One way to view your goals, large or small is to ask yourSelf a simple question…albeit a bit premature…..

How do I want to be remembered?

As you ponder that question…remember ….a business you build with us  isn’t just about you and your life…you “get to” leave it in your will to your children or grandchildren.

If we choose…each of us “gets to” build and leave a legacy.

We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. ”

— Sir Winston Churchill
