Critical Assumption and the Hard Facts

For those that live longer….here are the hard facts from Uncle Sam for the past 30 years…and going forward.

For every 100 people that turn age 65 in America

82% will either be dead or have an annual income less than $30,000.

13% will have an annual income between 30 and 60k.

4% will have an annual income over $60,000.

1% will be Wealthy.

So assuming you’ll only need 10 or 15 years worth of retirement money could be a really big mistake because;

In 2010, the American Academy of Actuaries says that the average 65YO American male can expect to live to 84½, with a 30% chance of living past 90.

The average 65-year-old American female has an average life expectancy of 87, with a 40% chance of living past 90.

The population of centenarians in the U.S. is growing rapidly — the Census Bureau estimated 71,000 of them in 2005 and projects 114,000 for 2010 and 241,000 in 2020. It also believes that 7.3 million Americans will be 85 or older in 2020, up from 5.1 million 15 years earlier.

What are your plans?  Get a 3rd job and put more money in a declining market?  Or find someone that’s already accomplished what you are seeking to do and ask them to mentor you – or hire them as a coach?

Seriously, What’s your plan?

Critical Assumption

Assuming retirement will last 10-15 years.

In 2010, the American Academy of Actuaries says that the average 65YO American male can expect to live to 84½, with a 30% chance of living past 90.

The average 65-year-old American female has an average life expectancy of 87, with a 40% chance of living past 90.

So assuming you’ll only need 10 or 15 years worth of retirement money could be a big mistake.

So what are your options? A second or third job?, Work longer? Start your own business?

Is he Bluffing or is it over?

Yes I’m a cyclist and yes I’m a fan.

Armstrong Stumbles, Dimming Hopes
By Juliet Macur NYTimes Published: July 11, 2010

MORZINE-AVORIAZ, France — Nearly 12 minutes after the top riders in the Tour deFrance finished the eighth stage Sunday, Lance Armstrong pedaled across the finish line, looking like a man defeated. His face looked blank, devoid of the intensity that helped
him win the Tour a record seven times.

The Tour is finished for me, but I could stay in the race, win stages and help the team and really try to appreciate my time here and appreciate that I’m not going back here,” Armstrong said.

I guess if he does in fact “lose” I’ll get to add a phrase to my sentence;

Disney saw the theme park while standing in a swamp, Michaleangelo saw David in a block of marble, races are won before they start or lost before they end….and certainly in our business – months are finished before they end.

Competency and confidence come from taking action and getting results. Success and Peace come from seeing it in your mind first, and believing that you “will”, even if you don’t know the “how”. You must see it, feel it, be there, like the result has already happened, and have the certainty “before” you take the action.

See it, Be it, Do it, Have it.

All your can Dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them
–Walt Disney

The best way to make a living right now

He Makes a Living off love
By Kaitlin Madden, CareerBuilder writer, July 10, 2010 11:07 a.m. EDT

Consultancy is one of the best ways to make a living right now. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says that the consulting industry is expected to grow by 83 percent from 2008 through 2018. It seems everyone wants expert advice when it comes to
health, wellness, managing their money, marketing their business and, apparently, improving their love lives. Thomas Edwards, a 24-year-old from Boston, specializes in the latter. Technically “a dating and lifestyle strategist,” …

On some level we are Consultants – either “Anti-aging”, “LifeStyle” “Nutritional”, “Skincare”, “Success”, “Team Building”, “Wellness” etc

So when people ask you “What do you do?” – What do you say? Which of those titles or roles do you see yourSelf as? As a business owner where do you position yourSelf in your community?
