Does Golf work?

As business coaches my wife and I frequently find ourselves in a corner conversation that starts with either, “I have an idea for a business…” or “I just have a quick business question…”,  many times, even in casual conversations, we are asked;

“Does network marketing really work?”

Understand first, The facts are:   the industry has been around for 63+ years, produces over 100 Billion in annual revenue…and has produced thousands of millionaires.  It is a highly recommended starting point for entrepreneurs because of the business training  that’s provided and the rapid personal growth that occurs….yes it is a fact that many experts, including Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, Mark Victor Hansen, Robert Allen, Bob Proctor, my wife and I, have all recommended Network Marketing as a starting point for entrepreneurs.

Second, what the person is really asking is; “Will network marketing work for me?”

You know the story, they’ve “tried it” and “failed” or the ever present they “know someone who tried it” and they failed which becomes generalized to “those things never work”.   And if they happen to know someone who was successful (besides us) then it was because they possessed something special – like superior knowledge, above average looks,  or a certain personality…blah blah blah.

So that brings me to the question, “Does Golf work?”

If you’ve never golfed before, and one day decided to pick up some clubs and go play and it turned out to be a disaster – does that mean golf doesn’t work?  Does that mean golf won’t ever work for you?  Does it mean that all the people who play golf have superior knowledge, above average looks, or certain personalities?  Certainly NOT!! on all counts.

All it means is that you have to learn how to play golf, which begins with believing that you CAN, followed by actually playing versus “trying” to play and usually involves some form of mentoring.  Hmmmm you mean it’s a llot like learning to ride a bike, or swim, or most things we learn in life?  Yep!

So our answer is;  “Absolutely I/we believe network marketing will work for you – after you first believe that it will and then DECIDE that it will”.

One reason for TEAM annd the Saints

In school we’re trained to take tests alone.  If you were to “collaborate” on a test with other students – it was called cheating.  We have these thoughts indoctrinated into students for 12-16 years and then we release the them into a work place where the boss tells them they need to collaborate in order to get things done.

Is it any wonder why colleges and employers today look for some kind of  sports Team activity on a resume?  Ever notice how ball players often go on to become successful business men?  Lance Armstrong bet his life on the success of his carefully chosen medical Team and attributed all of his Tour deFrance wins to his Team.

Team is everything.  In life, our success depends upon the quality of our Team.  Julie and I have a team of health care practitioners we call upon for our health needs.  We have a team of contractors, mechanics, plumbers, well drillers, painters, electricians etc that we call upon to care for our belongings.  We have a team of accountants, attorney etc that solve our business challenges.  We have a Spiritual team that keeps our hearts, minds and emotions tuned into a higher authority.  And most everyone has some version of these things for their life.

In one of our businesses we have a team that programs an online office and keeps it running, that acquires leads, tracks contacts, presents to them, communicates with them via websites, autoresponders and teleconferecne calls.   In another we have a computer team, programming team, scientific team, commission team, legal team, product development team, shipping team, account development team that combine their efforts to make certain we have GREAT products to sell, that they’re shipped on time and that we get paid on time.

Systems are great and necessary and TEAM goes one step further too.  What the Saints winning means to New Orleans, Louisiana and America  goes way beyond a football game.  What we do in our business lives goes way beyond a product or service.  Entrepreneurs founded America, grew America and will save America.

Here’s the way Julie and I see it;

“We’re attracting a Global organization of Extraordinary Individuals; Dedicated to Loving, Learning and Connecting with Grace and Abundance.”

TEAM is everything.

It’s neither good nor bad except..

“Knowledge is NOT power, Application of Knowledge is power

“Knowledge is neither good, nor bad, nor powerful except in how it is applied”

“Imagination is more important than knowledge

–Albert Einstein

Imagineering is the term the Disney Team applies to the concept of making the imagined – a reality park visitors experience.

Start imagineering your Life as it would be if you were to apply what you already know.

Winner vs Whiner

Everyone has at least two inner voices…any more than that and the people close to you will send you to the loony bin.   We each have a nagging, negative, critical voice that tries to talk us out of doing most anything that might make our lives better.   This is the voice that feeds us “ration-a-lies”. We call this the “inner Whiner” and we hear this voice in our mind.

We each have a true voice, encouraging, intuitive, supportive voice that guides us towards good things, right things by way of ‘hunches”, whispers, feelings. We call this voice the “inner Winner” and we hear this voice in our heart.

Guess whose finger is on the volume control for each?

History is full of

History is full of of success stories of those who ignored conditioned responses and forged their own path.   The Wright brothers and Henry Ford never finished high school.  Bill Gates, Michael Dell and Steve Jobs never finished college.  Sergey Brin quit Stanford to start Google.  Mark Zuckerberg quit Harvard after he started Facebook in his dorm room.

All of these world changers dropped out of school because they had an idea and the courage to act on that idea.  They started businesses and created jobs for others.

Today entrepreneurship is exploding..especially in the US.  We’re in the information age….and to paraphrase Raficki the wise old advisor in the
movie Lion King;

“You can either run from it, or learn and profit from it”.
