You CAN Make a Difference!

The only question is WILL you?

So many will sit and watch the CNN (Constantly Negative News) regarding Haiti and lament  “I WISH I Could help”.

You CAN.  Click Here

Nourish the Children provides Vitameals – a food product that is perfect for disaster situations because it only requires water to prepare, it ships dry and light and is designed specifically to be absorbed by the intestinal walls of malnourished individuals.

Thanx to a rare Texas freeze I was moanin and groanin – no water 2 days, no power for 8 hours, a 22 MO child by myself, mama out of town…..all paled in comparison -real fast  – after seeing just 3 min of CNN and what’s happening in Haiti.

We’ve already sent 6000 bags to Haiti….and the need is going to be much much greater.

The very best part of our Nourish the Children adventure has been the many miracles of tithing, and the hundreds of stories regarding people feeling empowered because we provided the opportunity for them to “do something” verus powerlessly watching TV news and just “wishing” they could help.

You Can too!  Click Here

Blindside & Invictus

Every so often there along comes a movie that directly relates to business.  This season there have been two.  Blindside and Invictus.

Invictus is a great story of how one person with a vision can “Make A Difference”  How ordinary individuals can be heroes, how one individual can engage a team and move a nation.  Or in our case – your case – Build a business.

Blindside on the other hand offers a more personal, much deeper view into something that touches each of us on a very deep and personal level – Family.  What is it?

Every family has their “uniqueness”,(dysfunctions) their “special” individuals (wackos) that add “spice” to life.  Without them there would be 90% less to watch on TV.

Every family has an individual or two that bring extraordinary warmth, passion, vibrancy, power to our lives.  We each can be that “warning” or “example” our ‘family” talks about.

The movie addresses both sides of the equation with elegance, clearly demonstrating we are free to choose our family and ultimately their is a master plan to every moment every decision and every family.

In many ways our business is like a family.  Over the past 11 years I/we have formed relationships that are in many ways closer and more significant in our lives than the family’s we were born into.  We’ve had our cries, our laughs, tender moments and victorious moments……all part of our journey…all super precious…and all worth it.

So go see Blindside and notice how your destiny is created in moments of decision.   Reflect a little on your family…biological or other.  Is it the “Walton’s”, “Little House on the Prairie”, “The Jetson’s”.

What is it for you?

Back to school today for many – Remember the classroom?

Remember back to when you were in school….

Throughout school the “constant” was the teacher in front of the room leading the class and teaching the students that were present. Did you ever see or hear of a teacher saying “excuse me..before we start class today I’m going to step and and go look for Johnny, and Sue who did not show up yet”

And so it is with our teaching ….we teach and coach those who are present.  If you’re not present for the Team calls, Training calls, one-on-one coaching calls, conferences, conventions and other teaching/coaching environments…how can you expect to learn how to get this done?

Remember, you don’t know what you don’t know.  And the thing that trips most people up in business is what you think you know that’s actually false.

Bottomline – If you’re not calling or emailing  your coach regularly – your coach must assume that you no longer need their assistance and that you’re able to fly on your own.

What’s Working for Social Media Marketers?

This all makes total sense when you remember WHY people use Facebook.

A look at effectiveness JANUARY 5, 2010
A September 2009 MarketingProfs survey of business-to-business (B2B)
and business-to-consumer (B2C) marketers found that the marketing tactics
most often used on social sites are not necessarily the best ones.

The most common marketing tactic used on Facebook was attempting to
drive traffic to corporate materials through status updates, followed by friending
customers.

The most effective tactic for consumer-oriented companies was creating a
Facebook application, which was done by less than one-quarter of total
respondents.   Both B2B and B2C companies also reported surveys of their
fans as effective; fan surveys were the third-most-common tactic attempted.

Buying ads—even targeted ones—was the least effective type of social media
marketing overall.

——————————————————————————

Remember people use Facebook to connect or Re-connect with people they know.  They’re not going to Facebook to find the “latest deal” or to get a coupon or to find a sale.  They respond well to surveys because they’re being asked a question versus being sold something.

Simply put it is a GREAT way to reconnect with people and to open the conversation that ultimately leads to “what do you do?”.  Remember it takes time and mulltiple contacts to get to that point…and remember when you finally get there…NEVER give your website thru Facebook …..ALWAYS do the actually giving of  your website over the phone.  Connect connect connect!

Purpose vs Resolutions vs Goals

As you consider “purpose” versus “resolutions” versus “goals” Your Life Purpose comes first, Goals second.

“Set a goal to achieve something that is so big, so exhilarating that it excites you and scares you at the same time.  It must be a goal that is so appealing, so much in line with your spiritual core, that you can’t get it out of your mind.  If you do  not get chills when you set a goal, your not setting big enough goals.” –Bob Proctor

There are two parts that give us the “chills” or the fear…..one is that as you discover your purpose or set a goal…there’s a part of you that resists change…..even though there’s another part of you that finds it to be a necessary part of life…

– it should be pretty darn obvious – Change is a natural part of life.

You change your car every so often
You change your calender once a month
You change your bedding once a week
You change your underwear each day
You change the page in your daytimer everyday
You change your position while sleeping or sitting every 5-7 minutes
You change the air in your lungs appx 15 times a minute
You change the position of your eye lids appx 25 times per minute

Change is a natural part of your life every second of every day.

Here are some tips to assist you is embracing change…and coincidentally most people find after doing these simple things that you’ll also grow more comfortable outside your “normal” comfort zone for other areas of your life.

  • Brush your teeth with the opposite hand.
  • If you’re brave – shave with the opposite hand
  • If you shave your legs..shave the other one first.
  • If you shave your face – start with the other side first
  • Sit at a new place at the dinner table.
  • Sleep on the other side of the bed.
  • Eat a new food
  • Get dressed with your eyes closed or in the dark.
  • If you wear pants – put on the other leg first
  • If you wear shoes – put on the other shoe first.
  • Wear earplugs around the house for an hour.
  • Sit outside with your eyes closed and identify sounds and smells.
  • Drive a different route to your favorite store.
  • Welcome novel and challenging encounters.

And with technology advancing, the mortgage crisis, the credit crisis, the devaluation of stocks, homes, cars and jobs going on right now….change is happening faster for us, and even faster for our prospects.   They want and need what we have to offer.

Your ability to embrace change becomes your ability to succeed and your future and your family’s future depend upon it.

Live With Intention,

Bill
