If you’re Travelin or Receivin this week

Good Morning Team –

If you’re travelin this holiday…or preparing your home for guests…make use of every minute…listen to a recorded seminar, sermon or inspiring digital book. Burn it to a CD or move it to your MP3 player, ipod etc and take it with you – listen to it multiple times.

Because if you don’t make it so that getting there is as good as where you’re going, when you get there what if you discover you don’t want it?

Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it’s at work or with your family. Every minute must be enjoyed and savored.

–Earl Nightingale

Life is a series of moments remembered and savored.”

The Waitress and WHY we go out to eat.

Good Morning Team – The reasons why we go out to eat are as varied as the people. Looking deeper – going out to eat might also satisfy one or more of the Six Fundamental Human Needs.

Certainty – we might choose a place because we’re familiar with the food.
Variety – maybe we’re bored with home cookin.
Significance – the smart waitress will be striving to make us feel important or we feel important when we decide the amount of the tip.
Connection – either just being around people or maybe there’s a staff person we enjoy seeing and speaking with.
Contribution – Spiritual fulfillment comes from Serving Others, tipping well may satisfy this need.
Growth – we learn from every human interaction – what to do or not do.

While the reasons we give for going out to eat may be superficial; it is likely that the event also satisfies a deeper need. When people start a business they often say they’re starting because they need to make money. Is it just the money? Do people really want to make $3000. per month so they can have 3000 pictures of George Washington for their bathroom wall?? NOT! The real reason is always deeper, what will earning that amount allow the person to BE, DO and Have. Hint: look for the reason to relate to one or more of their 6 human needs.

Remember from Yesterday;

A truly successful waitress knows exactly WHY she’s waitressing. She’ll have nightly, weekly, and monthly dollar goals. She’ll engage customers in conversation by asking them questions like who are they, where are they from, where are they traveling to and WHY. She’ll also ask what kind of food do you like, how do you like it prepared and she’ll LISTEN and then RESPOND by providing just the food and information requested.

In a nutshell, she’ll prosper simply by serving others. And in the process she too will earn multiple degrees in psychology and satisfy one or more of her basic human needs – either through the process of working or through what she does with her earnings.

Which of the 6 fundamental human needs does your business fulfill for you? For your customers?

Your PhD and the Waitress – Part 2 of 2

Good Morning Team – Often a new business owner will pin their success to one big contract, one big fish. We often see this with new Network Marketers – they’ll get started and go to their “Big fish” – the one person who – if they get started – has so much influence, expertise, success – and will surely make them both fabulously wealthy. And all too often the “Big Fish” is either too busy being successful to look, simply not ready or plain ole just says “no”.

The metaphor = The waitress goes to the table, “Would you like more coffee sir?” Answer; “I’ll only get more coffee if my friend buys the restaurant and gives me a percentage of the profits“.

The point – your success in business rarely comes from one big fish or contract. So continue to focus on improving your product, service or skill set so you can attract the right people and contracts to your business. Be the kind of person that the big fish wants to do business with.

Your Phd and the waitress

Good Morning Team – In the process of building your business you’re going to acquire several degrees in psychology. People are fascinatingly funny.

First, Be like the waitress. She goes from table to table with a pot of coffee…simply asking “would you like some more coffee?” It’s a yes or no question. If someone says yes, she pours them coffee, maybe engages some chit chat and then moves on. If someone says “no, I’m not interested, or the coffee industry is just a big scam” – she doesn’t run into the kitchen and cry or quit being a waitress. She just moves on to the next table and asks the same simple question…over and over, table after table, night after night until she achieves her goals that caused her to be a waitress.

And if someone says; “We’ll it depends, maybe, what kind of coffee, where are the beans grown, what kind of soil are they grown in, where does the water come from, are they FDA approved?“, etc etc. She’ll call the manager over to answer and/or move on to someone she can help.

And in the process she too will earn multiple degrees in psychology.

By the Way, what is your favorite restaurant and why?

Two Powerful Thoughts

The book “Outwitting the Devil” summed up in two sentences;

Most of the difficulties in which people find themselves are of their own making

One’s dominating Desires can be crystallized into their physical equivalents through definiteness of purpose backed by definiteness of plans, with the aid of nature’s law of hypnotic rhythm and time
