We must not cease from exploration. And the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we began and to know the place for the first time.” – T. S. Eliot

This is especially true when one takes the road less traveled.

Moving Forward

It is impossible to move forward from where you are until you become grateful for where you are.”

No flowers, snakes or butterflies

Good Morning Team – Some readers felt that the metaphor of flowers, snakes, and butterflies was less than accurate, meaning they couldn’t relate to any of those views of life. So here’s two more.

1. One of the great lines from Star Trek is “Human beings are simply an electrical bag of water“.
Which on a physical level is entirely accurate. Our bodies are 94-96% water and we live because of microcurrents and electro chemical reactions.

So let’s go a little farther down the mind bender trail;

2. What if Life is like water? Water has three forms; Ice, Liquid, and Steam. Here in Texas most of our water has become steam…that rises into the sky, becomes a cloud and then falls back to earth as rain (somewhere outside of Texas) which becmes a stream, lake, river or part of the ocean. And then part of a plant or animal.

With every breath you and I take we inhale and exhale water vapor, exchanging some of our body’s water molecules with those in the air. Which means this afternoon part of you might be a cloud, tomorrow a stream or absorbed by a plant or consumed by a cow.

What does this say about our connectedness? Our Living, working, playing, doing business together? Remember water flows along the path of least resistance and flowing water is one of the most powerful forces on the planet.

Too much to think about on a Friday? Grab a bottle or glass of water…. and go play.

Flowers, Snakes and Butterflies

Good Morning Team – More from Ken Dychtwald “With Purpose” as it relates to business. Reminder; as Shakespeare said;
No thing is either good nor bad except that we make it so

The Four Views of Life

1. Life is like a flower that blooms once – my grandfather and father each had one career, each working for the same company, each for 30+ years.

2. Life is like a flower that blooms annually – Some people go from job to job to job remaining in the illusion of security that comes with the employee mindset.

3. Life is like a snake – life events cause your skin to toughen up and become uncomfortable – intermittently causing you to shed the tough skin of who you are and make a big effort to shed the parts that aren’t working anymore. For many this means going back to school, getting a new degree, new career, new job, maybe self employed.

4. Life is like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. Why settle for shedding your skin when you have the ability to effortlessly completely transform yourself and become something fundamentally different? Does a butterfly struggle to
get out of it’s cocoon – yes absolutely – science has shown us that it MUST have the struggle in order to strengthen its wings……and then it gets to FLY!

What’s your view of life? And how does it play out in your day to day approach to your business?

Are you using your life or is your life using you?

Good Morning Team – Just finished “With Purpose – Going from Success to Significance in Work and Life” by Ken Dychtwald Phd.

Ken has studied “aging” in America and specifically the Baby Boomers for his entire career/life. His work has been and is being used by Presidents to make policy decisions, Corporations to make a difference and $$$..and now you and I can access this important information so we can “Live With Intention” as we each journey from success to significance in our lives.

If you were to read this book you’ll learn the 3 phases of life;

Learn > Earn > Return and how they apply to what we’re doing with Nourish the Children, and Morning Glory Ranch. And it might just help you discover – if you’re don’t already know – your Life purpose.

In a nutshell the books asks the question;…a mind blowing question… “What is my Life’s Purpose?” and shows you how people discover their purpose as they go through their life cycle and how the question is super super critical for those who market products and services to the baby boomers and their children.

From the chapter on “What you think you know about success and how you’re wrong”

The cynical and indifferent know not what they miss, for their mistake is an impediment to our progress as a civilization and their happiness as individuals.”
