Good Morning Team – Recently had breakfast discussion with an older gentleman who came to America with $100. (right after WW2)
He built his fortune to $40 Million, has lost 80% in this recession. This from our discussion and the book below.
If you gave everyone in the world a million dollars and told them they had a year to spend all of it, most people could complete that task.
Yet if you asked everyone in the world; “Starting with nothing, can you acquire a million dollars in a year”, only a very few could. And those few would probably be entrepreneurs.
Midas Touch – Why Some Entrepreneurs Get Rich and Why Most Don’t
I loved this book. The five key points you must know as an entrepreneur. Definitely NOT for fence sitters, skeptics, faint of heart or those who have a challenge controlling their Self Talk. The Forward/Preface should be read by anyone graduating or close to graduating high school or college. And the book by anyone who seeks to be successful in their own business.

Good Morning Team – First, I do believe in education, our oldest will start college next year, and I have many letters after my name. (which patients and clients care little about) and there are three challenges with traditional schools in America.
1. They focus on what you do wrong, and being “right”, and not making mistakes. For the most part creative thinking is discouraged and competition between peers is encouraged over cooperation. Think “bell curve”, competing for the best grades, Valedictorian, etc.
Entrepreneurs must make mistakes and the faster they do so, the faster they become successful. And entrepreneurs seek collaboration and thrive via cooperation.
2. Schools are designed to create employees. This is why people say “Go to school to get a good job”. The fact is even most graduates of MBA programs go on to become employees…albeit better paid ones.
3. The farther you go up the academic chain the more you know about less. The more specialized you become, the less leverage you have because you become a commodity that can be replaced when things change. Example the very best cassette player designers rapidly became unemployed once the CD was invented. Unless they themselves expanded their skill sets.
Entrepreneurs must wear a lot of different “hats”, they know a little about many aspects of their business…they are “generalists”. And they know enough to hire people that are experts – specialists – to do the things they themsleves are weak in so they can go on to create, make more mistakes, learn more by doing and ultimately fail until they’re FREE.
On the other side of failure is FREEDOM!

Good Morning Team – Everyday in the mainstream media we hear “spend more to stimulate the economy, but live below your means so you’re not part of the problem.”
While common sense tells us to live below our means, who really wants to settle for less? I don’t. You probably don’t either. Cutting expenses is smart to a point and often becomes a downward spiral to nothingness. After a while, doing without causes eventually causes enough resentment to interfere with your ability to be productive. In my opinion, settling for less kills your spirit.
The solution is to expand your means. This means growing your business. This means growing as a person first. You and I have a response-ability to do so. Readers are leaders. Lifelong learners are DOer’s. Buy a book, learn from prospecting, and sharing what you have to offer. Educate others about your product or service and squash your greatest competitor – ignorance. You can DO it.
Remember, the rich don’t work for money. They work to buy and build assets.
And you are your greatest asset.

Your biggest Competitor > Ignorance!
Consumers don’t know you exist or what you have to offer. So you must reach out and show them. You must know how your product or service is unique and you must be aware that you have a monopoly on YOU. You are your very own unique brand. Who you are speaks loudly.
Ultimately building your brand is more important that building your business. Even if you believe you have very little money, very little business experience and very few entrepreneurs as friends – look to your business as your own personal business school and personal development program. Your coaches, mentors and relationships are your instructors. Learning comes from DOing….like riding a bike, driver’s ed or learning to swim.
The more you grow – the more your brand grows – and the more your business grows.
