Eat More Chickn – Final Nugget

Good Morning Team – Final Nugget pulled from “How Did You Do it, Truett?” by Truett Cathy – founder of Chick-Fil-A.

We all know the scorecard of any business is the profit it produces. Without profit we cannot take care of our families, our employees nor contribute to the betterment of our communities. The question is: How do we balance the pursuit of profit and personal character? For me I find the balance by applying Biblical principles. I see no conflict between Biblical principles and good business practices“.

I/we agree

Eat More Chickn Part 2

Good Morning Team – A few more nuggets from “How Did You Do it, Truett?” by Truett Cathy – founder of Chick-Fil-A. (Thanx again rising star Diane Payne for putting this one in my hands.)

The upfront investment for becoming a Chick-Fil-A franchise Operator is only $5000. Royalties = 15% of gross revenue for “trademarks, logos, advertising” and 50% of the profits. Most Franchise Operators only have one location and are guaranteed Sundays off.

The selection process for becoming a Chick-Fil-A Franchise Operator typically takes appx one year because they want to “make certain the relationship will last”….that the new Operator is committed to building their new business for the long term. Applicants are dismissed if they use the word “try” in reference to “doing the business”.

Truett says;

When we’re fully committed to something, we’re not likely to give up or be discouraged. When you’re fully committed, you see strange and unusual things happen that lead to your success.

Of course we’re reminded of Goethe’s Couplet:

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.

Which of your Dreams and Goals are you most Committed to?

Eat More Chickn

Good Morning Team – A Quick Read; “How Did You Do it, Truett?” by Truett Cathy – founder of Chick-Fil-A. (Thank you rising star Diane Payne for putting this one in my hands.) The principles he speaks of very much mirror those of our Team. And some mirror our industry;

He chooses new Franchise Operatorsfrom the communities where the restaurant is going to be located, where they already have connections to family, friends, business relationships, and social relationships.

Operators are tied into the community and we encourage them to capitalize on that…..It’s a two way street. People like to do business with folks who are making a contribution to their school, church or club….creates goodwill for all.

We look for several important traits in Operators: strong entrepreneurial Spirit, desire to be in business for yourself but not by yourself….full time… ability to lead and influence others in a positive manner and results oriented self starters.

The selection of employees is made by the Operators and the best ones get involved in their communities, churches and schools where they meet and get to know potential team members. Good Operators always keep their eyes open for new people. You never know where you might meet the right person – one who will be a good employee or fellow Operator.

The selection process for becoming a Chick-Fil-A Franchise Operator typically takes appx one year because they want to “make certain the relationship will last”. Applicants are dismissed if they use the word “try” is reference to “doing the business”.

The parallels between their business model and the fundamental principles of the netWORK marketing model or the Real Estate Broker – Agent model are strikingly similar.

Success Leaves Clues.
