State of the Union and Shakespeare

Good Morning Team – Tonite the world will hear the presidents annual “State of the Union” address. Much weight will be assigned by the media to certain words or phrases. Shakespeare comes to mind;

No thing is either good nor bad except that we make it so

Irregardless of what is said by whomever; at the end of the day the vast majority of people will care more about THEIR economy vs THE economy.

And to keep their economy going the masses know they must look, feel and appear at least as young as their peers and potential replacements. They know they don’t have enough saved for retirement, that they may have to stay in the work force longer and they MUST do something if they’re ever going to have any kind of life beyond work.

By building, promoting and sharing our businesses, through continued entrepreneurial innovations – we offer solutions for the masses. Because no matter what is showing up on CNN (Constantly Negative News) this remains true;

People always make the time and find the resources for the things they’re committed to

–Napoleon Hill

Morgan Freeman

Good Morning Team – I love autobiographies because in 2 hours you can distill a lifetime of experience and wisdom straight from the horses mouth. Last night I watched Mr Freeman be interviewed for a series called “Master Class”.

Morgan had a dream as a 6 YO child to be an “actor”. He met with the usual guffaws and ridicule that children – and adults – so often do when they announce their heart’s desires to the world for the first time. 3 Years later he landed his first role in a school play. The year 1946.

He estimates that he auditioned for hundreds, maybe thousands of roles over the years both for theater, television and of course movies. He guesses that he quit on his dreams hundreds of times, but his heart kept prompting him. And he kept landing roles, small and large; working a “hundred” odd jobs in between, living on the streets and in his car when he had one.

By his definition; success finally arrived 42 years later when in 1988 he was first asked to star in “Driving Miss Daisy” at age 51. He’s now 75 and “just getting started” and feels his best work lies ahead.

As Morgan says; “Appreciate the coincidences, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should, so speak and live your Truth“.

Another way of saying;

Friend has Breakthrough

Good Morning Team – A friend / fellow seminar junkie recently attended an event and shared this breakthrough.

Here’s what happened. I went to a 2-day live event in the LA area for business and personal growth. The event was phenomenal and well worth the three thousand dollar investment. But here is the amazing part, at the end of the event during the networking, I asked the other men and women who attended what they thought.

I heard some people say things like “It was worth every penny I put into this” and “I have already reserved the next 3 days to apply this education” and “This was one of the smartest investments I have ever made in my business.” These people loved it and were immediately applying the new-found knowledge.

Other folks said things like “The cost was more then the value” and “I spent a lot of money on this and am disappointed” and “I knew I shouldn’t have paid so much.”

That is when it hit me……like a ton of bricks. Every person that saw the event as an investment, received tremendous benefit from it. And everyone who saw the event as a cost, received no benefit whatsoever.

Basically, the event was deemed a success or failure by each attendee BEFORE the event even happened. If you committed to going to the event as an investment in your business (like I did), you got tons and tons of value. But, if you saw the event as a cost, then it was basically wasted time and money.

What a wake up call it was for me! We experience our expectations. And we need to be VERY aware of the expectations we set for ourselves. –Sarah Shaw

Bill’s Question: Wonder how this applies to the people you bring into your business? I often say that starting a business is the very best personal development seminar I’ve ever taken! And no matter what seminar I attend I know for a fact I’m going to learn at least one new thing and make at least one new friend….therefore every event is an investment.

I Have a Dream 2

Good Morning Team – Vince Lombardi, the famous coach frequently said:

In each player’s heart is a dream and a hurt.

When I look at the hurt, a synergy takes place and the hurt grows. Pretty soon, the player can think of nothing else and drops out.

When I think of the dream, a different synergy takes place. It blazes. It sparkles. It comes to life.

Soon the hurt is forgotten.

Therefore, I only talk of dreams!”
