Blurring the boundaries – running a business from home.

Good Morning – a pretty cool article for ya’lllll to check out regarding running a business from home.

http://www.entrepreneur.com/article/217193

Before you go over there and read it consider these two things missing from the article.

1. Working from home is extremely rewarding for the business owner and has long term benefits for the children and family.

2. “Blurring of boundaries” is listed as a “pitfall” when in reality it is a misperception. Our 9-5 friends think their life is “in balance” because they work from 9-5, go to bible study on Wednesday night, go to movie with family on Friday nights, do chores around the house Saturday morning, go out to dinner as a couple on Saturday, go to church on Sunday and get a knot in their stomcah on Sunday afternoon about commuting in traffic monday morning to a job they may or may not find rewarding on a personal level. To them that’s living a “balanced” life and they look at my wife and I as people who are “always working”.
When you’ve chosen your “work” and you’re doing something you absolutely love and you see clearly how it fits into your life’s purpose, how you’re showing your children and your community that there is a different way to live and earn income….then it’s really not “work”….it’s more a labor of love. For example; a real estate agent….someoone who loves solving problems, finding a “home” or an investment – will often work weekends, or in the evening because that’s when the 9-5 er’s can get out and pursue their dreams….same situation exists for those with home based businesses they too will often find themselves working at “off times” because that’s when the 9-5 er’s are avaialble….they also might find themselves talking about real estate during a birthday party or other socail event because they’re talking about what they love to do. This doesn’t mean they’re “always working” or that their physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual lives are “out of balance”.

All it means is that they’ve chosen to balance their life in a different way…and they chose to;

Live With Intention,

Courage or Conformity?

Quote from Earl Nightingale;

We all admire the courageous person. We sometimes consider the person who lacks courage a coward….or the more common term; “average” or “normal”.

It takes courage for a teenager to truly stand out from their peers when the other kids are heading down the wrong path. It takes courage to stand up for the person being unjustly criticized as opposed to agreeing with the crowd. It takes courage to stand for something and die for your country. It takes courage to be different and start your own business vs just sell your time and dreams for a job.

Earl Nightingale said; “The opposite of courage is conformity….

It’s so easy to go along with the larger group. We don’t have to stand out, stand up, stand for something or be “different”.

And the rest of his quote….

..and there is little compensation in conformity“.

What are people buying?

If you’re out there “trying” to “sell” your product to the masses based upon your knowledge of the science behind it – it is likely you are going to experience less than stellar results.

People buy Love, Emotions and Passion. AFTER they have made their buying decision – THEN they look for facts, science and logic to justify their purchase.

People buy your Love for the product or the opportunity. They make their purchase decisions based upon your Love, Emotion and Passion and how well you transfer those Feelings to them.

Proof: How many of the people that have said to you; “send me the clinicals”, “the science behind it”, or ask “what’s in it” – without having a personal experience of the product – have actually purchased the product? I’ll bet just a teeny tiny minority.

Every human interaction is a sale..either you move them in your direction or they move you in their direction. Always. No exceptions. He who is most congruent wins. Oh you say you’re not a “sales person”?? If you’re in a relationship – you’re in “sales”.
If you have kids you’re in “sales” everyday, all day….meal time, bath time, bed time, clothes for school, clothes NOT for school, etc etc. With kids it’s all sales all the time.
