A Force of Nature

Good Morning Team –

Stephen R. Covey, author of “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People,” died unexpectedly on Monday. 79 years young.

I am forever grateful to Stephen for assisting me in writing my first book and for all I have learned from him about mySelf, people and success.

He was a true benefactor to the betterment of our entire world. An obituary in USA Today started out by calling him “A force of human nature…”

Chief Executive Magazine said the Seven Habits was THE most influential book of the 20th Century. His “seven habits” have been woven into the emotional well-being of millions and millions of people’s lives.

One of my favorite “Coveyisms” is: “Seek first to understand, then to be understood.” He’s known for the concept of “Win-Win.” He taught people, including me, to be proactive. Also, how to think differently, empathically, and more respectfully and in the process discover innovations and breakthroughs. And much much more.

Remember, our time to pass will come too, so maybe just for a minute today, examine what you’re doing in light of how you want to be remembered. Together, we have powerful tools at our fingertips and can Make a Difference in the lives we touch in so many unique ways and on so many unique levels.

Peace,
Dr Bill

Play Time!

Imagination is more important than knowledge” –Albert Einstein

Spent the weekend playing at a resort with all three of our children. Julie planned an incredible adventure for all of us and then of course there were a few spontaneous moments too.

We are enjoying the “last summer” with our 18YO. She starts college in a few weeks. Only 6 more summers with our next oldest and 14 left with our youngest. They grow too fast. Summers are so short.

I was really struck by how quickly and easily kids in the pool, restaurants, on the trails, in the kayaks etc – shift identities. One second they’re a doctor, lawyer, fireman, etc and a second or two later they adopt, feel and act a completely different personna. And all without fear of rejection or judgement. If other kids felt an individual wasn’t playing a role appropriately they merely guided each other with questions – well then how do you do it? And then they moved on….quickly and efficiently…because we only have x amount of time to play.

Only a few weeks left in this summer. Only a few summers to go.

Time to Play!! Imagine that!

Live with Intention,
Dr Bill

Two Simple Questions

Good Morning Team –

So What would YOU do if only YOU could? and How would YOU do it?

How we do it is very different than how others do it, and we can show and teach it to you.

Now the process of creating something new starts with this question;

What am I most grateful for right this moment, or what could I be most grateful for – right this moment?

Yogi Berra Saw it First

Good Morning Team – Yogi Berra – one of baseball’s greatest. Was a catcher, outfielder and manager. Named the greatest catcher ever. Named MVP of the entire league 3 times. Participated in 21 world series and was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1972.

He quit school at 8th grade to work and help support his family. Came to America in 1909. Served in the US Navy in WWII and started playing minor league ball in 1946 at age 37.

My father bowled with him at his bowling center in Clifton NJ, Rizzuto-Berra Lanes.

He is also known for these comments that apply to your business;

90 % of the game is half mental

If I hadn’t believed it, I wouldn’t have seen it

Disney saw the them park while standing in a swamp, Michaelangelo saw David in a block of marble, races are won before they start, and
months are finished before they end.

Competency and confidence come from taking action and getting results. Success and Peace come from seeing it in your mind first, and believing that you “will” even if you don’t know the “how”. You must SEE it, FEEL it, BE there like the result has already happened, and have the certainty before you take the action.

In short, See it > Be it > Do it = Have it.

Why Team Works

Napoleon Hill, first described the value of Mastermind groups in his classic book, Think and Grow Rich:

Definition of the Mastermind: “coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of perfect harmony, between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose.”

No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind.

Economic advantages may be created by any person who surrounds himself with the advice, counsel, and personal cooperation of a group of men who are willing to lend him wholehearted aid in a spirit of perfect harmony. This form of cooperative alliance has been the basis of nearly every great fortune.”

Men and women take on the nature and the habits and the power of thought of those with whom they associate in a spirit of sympathy and harmony.”

Your mastermind starts with either your spouse, significant other, OR your coach / mentor…..and then you personally cherry pick who you add to your Team, your Mastermind group.
